Theres a big group from Harding going to Clinton, AR today to clean up after the tornadoes that passed through this week. I really wanted to go and be a part of it, but since I am going out of town next weekend for Career Day, I just have too much homework backed up for me to spend all day somewhere else. Not to mention that I didn't sign up to go and they were really insistent that we MUST sign up. So I was really bummed about not being able to go, and I tried calling many many of my friends to get a ride to church, but they are all either going to Clinton, sick, or out of town. So I ended up walking all by my lonesome over to College Church for early service this morning. And oddly enough, it ended up being a blessing for me.
This morning the preacher, Noel Whitlock, was talking about gradual change - both as a tool of God and a tool of Satan. The lesson was entertaining and humorous, but also extremely thought-provoking. Change rarely, if ever, happens overnight. It is important to examine ourselves to make sure we are growing and not changing for the worse. Its not exactly a complicated message, but it got me thinking, and I am thankful for that.
Now on to the other news of this week.
EVERYONE.... EVERYONE is sick. except for Kristen and me, I guess. And we are beyond determined to stay healthy.
I'm not usually a germaphobe, but seriously, Harding right now is ridiculous. The flu is spreading like wildfire and TONS of people I know have fevers of 101+. ick.
Last night a girl came up to me and asked if I had a thermometer. I let her use it, and then after it had a reading of 101.7, I promptly got out my can of lysol and sprayed every surface i could find.
i WILL NOT get sick. it is just NOT an option.
so far so good.
i've been washing my hands like CRAZY, using germ-x constantly, taking my vitamins, and taking some extra zinc.
i refuuuuuuuse to get sick.
